This weekend a group of coaches from across NI came together to complete the BWA Level 2 coaching accreditation. The course took place over two days, mixing theory and practical skills to equip participants with the essential tools needed to advance their coaching careers. The course was expertly led by experienced BWA instructor Trevor Hoskins and assisted by Erne Wrestling's Bruce Irwin.
The course covered key aspects such as tactical strategies, athlete development, and effective communication techniques. Throughout the weekend, coaches engaged in interactive classroom sessions and on-mat practicals, applying their knowledge in real scenarios. The intensive training emphasised not only technical proficiency but also leadership and mentorship, ensuring each participant left with a deeper understanding of how to inspire and develop athletes.
By the end of the two-day program, all attendees had the opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired skills, receiving constructive feedback from the instructors. The course marked a significant step forward in strengthening the coaching landscape across Northern Ireland, with each coach now better equipped to contribute to the growth and success of the sport at various levels.
Financial support from SportNI has been instrumental in making these courses accessible to an extensive number of wrestlers across Northern Ireland. By investing in the next generation of coaches, we're not only fostering a culture of excellence but also helping to build a stronger and more competitive sport sector across NI.
